Olga Genilloud obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry (Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, 1988) from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, Spain. She has an extended research experience in the academic environment from her work in the biosynthesis of antibiotic peptides (Hospital Ramón y Cajal, Madrid 1984-1988; Harvard Medical School, Boston, 1987). In 1989 she joined the Centro de Investigación Básica de España (CIBE), at Merck Sharp and Dohme in Spain, developing for 19 years leading positions in the discovery of bacterial natural products, 10 years as Head of the Bacterial Microbiology Group. In February 2009 she was appointed Scientific Director of Fundación MEDINA where she leads the research center research and the international opportunities with academic and industrial sectors, and heads the Microbiology Department. She has extended experience in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and management of international research programs and collaborations. She has an extended list of publications, with more than 100 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and 18 patents derived from her contributions to the discovery of novel compounds and the development of new molecular tools in Natural Products research.

Prof. Park has served as a dean of College of Veterinary Medicine, SNU from 2007 and honored as fellow at Korean Academy of Science and Technology. During 2008-2010, Professor Park has served as a president of Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS), and also a president of the Korean Society of Food Hygiene and Safety and a president of Korean Society for Zoonoses and chairperson of Korean Society of Veterinary Science. From 2011 to 2014, he has worked as a Commissioner at the Animal, Plant, Fisheries, Quarantine and Inspection Agency, KOREA. Currently, he has returned to the previous position as a professor, College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University. Now, Prof. Park is a Commissioner of Korea BioMAX Institute at SNU. He has published more than 250 papers, mainly pathogenesis and antimicrobial resistance of zoonotic diseases, at referred journals and got 20 patents and wrote 6 book chapters.

K. Kormas received his Bsc (1994) and Phd (1998) from the Biology Dept of the University of Athens, Greece. He worked as a post-doc at the Trondhjem Biological Station, Norway and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, USA. Since March 2015 he is a professor of aquatic microbial ecology at the University of Thessaly, Greece.

His research focuses on the patterns and processes that underpin the distribution and abundance of microorganisms in different habitats of the aquatic environment, including plankton, bentos and symbionts. He has published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals

Dr. Horng-Dar Wang is a full Professor and the Director of Institute of Biotechnology, and an adjunct Professor of the Institute of Systems Neuroscience at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. He received his PhD with honor in 1997 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow from 1997 to 1999 in Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology at University of Southern California, and as a postdoctoral scholar from 1999 to 2004 in Division of Biology at California Institute of Technology. He was an Assistant Professor in 2004, an Associate Professor in 2009, and promoted as a full Professor in 2015 in the Institute of Biotechnology at National Tsing Hua University.

Dr. Horng-Dar Wang’s research interest focuses on anti-aging research and applies his novel discoveries into anti-cancer and anti-neurodegeneration research.

Sevgi Ciftci is the Associate Professor at the the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul University, Turkey. Dr. Sevgi Ciftci obtained her BA in department of the medical biological sciences in Faculty of Medicine from the Dokuz Eylül University at Izmir- Turkey, and her PhD in Microbiology from the Medical Faculty of Istanbul University at Istanbul, in 2003.

Nikos Mavroudis is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Food Science and leads the laboratory of Food Engineering & Separation of Actives (FoESA) in the Dept. of Applied Sciences in Northumbria University at Newcastle. Previously Nikos was a Research Scientist and Project Leader for Unilever R&D for 9 years and has been responsible for developing the separation expertise within Unilever R&D Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. His research interests are focused on Food Security & Food Safety, particularly relevant is his interest on bacterial flow cytometry and surface decontamination. Nikos has published 10 research articles in peer review journals and 12 patents/patent filings and his work has attracted ca 325 citations excluding self-citations.

Shah, currently Chief Scientist & Head – Industrial Waste Water Research Lab, Division of Applied and Environmental Microbiology Lab at Enviro Technology Ltd., Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India, received his Ph.D. (2002-2005) in Environmental Microbiology from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. He has served as an Assistant Professor at Godhra, Gujarat University in 2001.Maulin P.
